Being from Philly, and no longer living there, this recipe caught my eye. It is however, Non by whatever stretch of the imagination a "Philly Cheese Steak". Steak must be much thinner, cheese should be provolone and mixed in with the meat, and I've never had dark-green peppers on one, unless they were hot peppers. Good sandwich, just keep in mind it is not what it calls itself.
03/06/2005
Nifty spice/seasoning mix for the meat. In the hereafter I will add 3 tablespoons of olive oil and allow the meat to marinade overnight. I used swiss cheese but side by side time I volition use provolone. The corporeality of cheese needs to be increased drastically (maybe double or triple the amount of cheese called for). Be sure to buy big hoagie rolls equally smaller ones don't hold all the ingredients. I recommend calculation a cup of sliced mushrooms to the meat mixture.
12/02/2002
Non a Philly cheesesteak, but OK. For Philly-style cheesesteak, meat should exist super thin (freeze 90% and shave across grain using thin slicing disc of food processor). Besides, cheese should be american or provolone (slices laid over and stirred into meat while it'south in the skillet, at stop of cooking) or Cheese Whiz. But if you're not specifically looking for a Philly cheesesteak, this is a tasty sandwich for what it is.

My hubby made this YUMMMM! The things that he did differently were added red pepper, mushrooms, and used garlic in a jar. And so marinated the meat with all the seasonings calculation worsteschire sauce. Toasted the roll with a light spread of butter. Instead of swiss he used provolone, melting the cheese in the pan over the meat. YUMMMMMM! Thanks Wendy.
12/17/2002
This is the closest to a real Philly Sandwich I've ever made. I used provolone instead of swiss the 2nd time I made it. That makes a large deviation, so I stick to provolone everytime I make it. Don't let all the spices go on you from tying it, because it is well worth it and a tip for buying spices is look in the mexican food island in grocery for little packages of all the spices needed. They are alot less expensive than some other make names. And then it's affordable on ones budget. Almost a 5 * with my boys.

Being from Nebraska, we take a express estimation of a Philly Steak Sandwich. But my husband asked me to brand these and they turned out great! We accept put this recipe in our favorite's, and volition enjoy. Thanks Wendy!
07/05/2003
The flavoring for the meat is just wonderful! I made this the first time as sandwiches. Since then, nosotros've been using the same seasoning mix (doubling the chili powder) and making steak fajitas with it instead. I have used diverse cuts of meat (fifty-fifty sliced chuck roast) with slap-up results. Sirloin tip roast works great...only partially freeze and piece into fajita-size strips, mix with the seasoning and gear up as directed. Perfect blend of spices! Thank yous so much, we actually enjoy this one :-)
07/01/2003
This are amazing...I am not also big on peppers, but wow. I like to add dissimilar kinds of cheeses for my married man who must have cheese on everything. I can non look to brand these again. Awesome...Thanks for posting.
09/xiii/2002
A little bit unlike from a traditional Philly, but it had dandy flavor and made an excellent sandwich. I added some chicken broth to the meat drippings in the pan, and it fabricated a great au jus. Thank you for sharing!
05/fourteen/2008
Wow! The spiced meat was delicious! I used chewy Calabrese buns, considering the shop was out of hoagies, and (later reading up on the "traditional" Philly Cheesesteak) I did 1 batch with provolone cheese and another batch with Cheez Whiz. We preferred the provolone. Oh, and I used the garlic mayo from the other allrecipes cheesesteak, which elevated the sandwich to a whole new level. Fabled! Will definitely add to the regular rotation!
09/08/2010
I have made these sandwiches twice now and they were WONDERFUL! I don't care if they are accurate or not, they are just delicious. First time I used leftover cooked rib-eye steak that my husband sliced super thin with an electric knife. I put the pieces in a ziploc bag with all the spices to let marinate. 2nd time I made, I used frozen steak-ums and that worked well too; however I think the rib-heart was merely a footling amend. Do not skimp on the bread. I bought very nice, fresh hoagie rolls from our shop's baker and it really makes them. The combination of spices and meat, cheese, etc just makes for a super succulent sandwich. Oh and first time I used swiss cheese as recipe calls for and 2nd time I used provolone. We actually liked the swiss better every bit it has more than flavor. I am so glad I found this recipe when I was looking for a style to use up a leftover steak! Thanks so much for sharing the recipe!

Non a philly cheese stake, Not fifty-fifty shut. Try Pat's and Geno'due south Steaks In philly. I Adopt geno's the argue continues.
08/27/2002
Very good and piece of cake lunch. These are the closest recipe I have found that replicate the ones fabricated downwardly at a local deli. I omitted the marjoram without compromising the taste. Will make once more.
01/23/2007
tasty recipe but not a "Philly" cheesesteak, as I know information technology. Paper thin beefiness, peppers, onions and cheez wiz on a hoagie are the accurate.
04/25/2009
Dearest these, and they freeze beautifully!I wait until Sirloin is on auction, and so accept the butcher slice it as thin as he tin can. (All that slicing past mitt gets tough!)I cut the recipe in half, and placed all the raw ingredients for 1/2 a recipe in a 1 quart freezer purse. (1/two recipe is the perfect size for 2 adults.) Squish the pocketbook to get the air out, and freeze for up to 6 months. Pull from the freezer, and cook every bit described. Yous will never know they just came out of the freezer, and it makes for a super-fast repast. Provolone cheese is our favorite instead of swiss!
01/nineteen/2007
Loved the flavour of this one. Added the galric mayo from another recipe and it finished it off perfectly. ane cup mayo with 2 minced cloves of garlic.
05/29/2010
My family really enjoyed this recipe. I used shaved beefiness which worked great.
06/21/2002
I loved all of the spices! Non your typical Philly. Next time I'm going to cook it in the Crock pot with Beef Broth and use some of the sauce for the sandwihes. Thank you!
03/17/2013
'Sgood! I actually liked the spice mixture and these were excellent served with homemade baked fries. I made this exactly as written EXCEPT for the cheese. Used provolone instead of Swiss because I but couldn't see it any other way. Next time I'll hang onto the spice mix, merely I prefer steak sandwiches a tad sloppier. And juicier. This was a little dry out. So next fourth dimension I'll probably but mix everything together and let it all melt together then throw cheese on top and cover it to melt everything together before scooping it into a bun. But at that place will definitely exist a next fourth dimension, so thank you!
12/29/2002
Existence a Philadelphia native I accept had my fair share of the "existent Philly Cheese Steak" (with or without Whiz--Cheez Whiz) This recipe was delicious and easy habitation version. I substitutes provolone cheese or mozarella in lieu of Swiss.
10/xx/2014
Used rib-eye steak sliced existent thin, put in the freezer for nearly fifteen minutes to make information technology easy to slice. I used provolone, and husband had Swiss. I too didn't broil the buns, merely toasted on the griddle. Lay the cheese on your cooked meat on the griddle and it will melt, use the spatula to slop information technology all on your bun, that manner the cheese mixes in with the meat.
x/07/2003
We make this all the fourth dimension. Thanx to a philly steak pizza comercial on tv set we are at present calculation fresh mushrooms to saute with the onion and bell pepper too! Delicious.
12/08/2011
Was in Philadelphia but had no time to swallow this (as friends had told me I had to). So I made it the other day! YUMMY!
05/24/2010
I was born and raised in Philly and information technology is so agreeable to hear people try to duplicate our cheese steaks. This has expert flavor but is NOT a Philly cheese steak. Interesting try though!
02/05/2003
This was neat, authentic or not! I take the sirloin right out of the freezer and slice it very thin with a slicer. I marinated the sliced meat with the herbs and spices plus some vegetable oil, soy sauce and worchestershire overnight the showtime time, only when I've made it since, I merely permit it defrost/marinate on the counter while prepping everything else and/or sides, and it imparts plenty of flavor. Thanks for the not bad recipe!
06/03/2002
I thought this was succulent, as good equally Geno's or Pat's. My married man and I gobbled them upward, and they were sooo filling. Hours later on, nosotros still weren't hungry. Definitely a keeper. Cheers Wendy!!! :)
06/02/2010
This was wonderful. The only matter that I did different was, I combined the seasonings and a dab of olive oil and about 2 tsp of worcheshire sauce in a ziplock bag. I added the cut up steak and allowed it to marinate for three hours. This came out wonderful and flavorful.
xi/06/2011
Very good but 1/2 tsp tin can be besides much seasoning. I season with all listed but shake it in which is definately less than what is stated. I will utilise more of those I actually like, ie garlic, pepper etc. Don't treat the swiss so nosotros switch it up with whatsoever is on hand...american, mexican alloy, provolone. Salve the juice from the pan and you an au jus for dipping. Crusty bread and ciabatta piece of work best for us. These changes have made information technology a five star for us!
03/20/2006
This was a delicious sandwich & quick recipe by modifying information technology alittle. For the seasoning nosotros used soy sauce to dip the one pack of pre-cut fajita style steak pieces. Subsequently on a plate we layed out the steak on a plate & seasoned it with grinded blackness pepper & used Lawrys seasoning salt instead to lightly cover merely i side of the meat. We used fresh garlic with the bell peppers & onions together instead of the garlic common salt. Equally for the bread we used the large loaf of French white staff of life instead which ended upwardly cutting into 4 sandwich sizes. As for the cheese, we used provolone instead & ane slice of the cafeteria sliced provolone was plenty for each sandwich size. So we wounded upward with four sandwiches total.
07/27/2001
WOW!! Need I say more than. This recipe is the best. I have had philly sandwiches in MANY restaurants and none have tasted every bit good as this. I didnt have the marjoram and information technology needed more salt than stated on the recipe but I guess its all in the individuals gustatory modality. Anyway, I put is on peak of a soft sweet french ringlet which was toasted in the broiler. YuMmY!! I rated it 4*'due south because I think it may exist a flake too spicy for kids to enjoy only for an adult, information technology is perfect.
08/04/2008
Good flavors.
12/09/2001
Decent recipe. Skillful tasting but non quite a "Philly" ... you really want thinly sliced meat. Also .. too many ingredients to add. I've got a good recipe to submit.
07/13/2004
WOW! This sandwich was AWESOME! It was exactly what I was lloking for. The but changes I made was to omit the marjoram and chili pulverization because I didn't have any. Also, I used mozzarella cheese. This sandwich is a new staple in our dwelling house. My husband was as well VERY impressed. Thank yous for this recipe.
02/17/2009
This was a expert sandwich.I only changed one thing.I boiled the meat in beef broth for 15min.This makes the meat very very tender. Thanks for the recipe.
10/xi/2007
This recipe really surprised my family and information technology was a care for to make due to its simplicity.
xi/03/2007
The original Philly Steak Sandwich afterwards WWII did non accept whatsoever cheese, just very thinnly sliced tenderloin of beef, green pepper and lots of onions. No mayonaisse either. Y'all could get it at a place in South Philly and it was delicious. Even at my "tender" age, I however remember the gustatory modality---no cheese, honesly.
08/27/2009
Very mediocre. Neither my fiance or I cared for our sandwiches, but at to the lowest degree he liked his a piffling more I did mine. I am SOOOOO disappointed.... I really thought this would be delicious and was looking forward to giving it a try. If you are in search of the "real thing" this doesn't compare (and I've had the REAL thing!). Having said that, I wasn't expecting an exact replica, just was hoping for something close enough. I pretty much followed CANDYCAT's directions to the alphabetic character except for a few changes. Every bit suggested, I purchased beefiness for stir-fry (curt on time), tossed the seasonings/meat in a large Zip-lock bag and marinated for about an hour. I also stir fried my meat until almost done, so added the peppers/onions and continued to cook everything until the vegetables were softened. This way, I didn't demand to dingy a separate dish to "hold" the meat. I lightly brushed my sub rolls with a mixture of melted butter and garlic powder (to taste), broiled for a couple of minutes, added the meat/veggies, topped each sandwich with 2 provolone slices and finished broiling until melted. For a finishing touch, I slathered our sandwiches with garlic mayo (simply eyeball it - you don't need a recipe for garlic mayo!). Served with seasoned curly fries, this was a filling meal, merely non a satisfying one. Sorry, merely this won't make a echo with us. Thanks anyways, CANDYCAT :)
05/01/2002
WOW!!! LOVED the recipe..Fabricated this last nighttime only leaving out the stale marjoram and adding cheeze whiz. In that location is only one place I have found that compares to this recipe that is in Las Vegas of all places, a little corner drive thur. Alas thanks:)
01/24/2003
My family could have cared less if this was the "real thing" or not, all I know is that they absolutely loved information technology. My daughter Ashley is the Philly Steak queen and she gave it thumbs up! I sliced the steak super thin and used the famous Television receiver chef'southward bottled seasoning mix, which had everything I needed. I made extra onions and peppers and Uh-Oh, went out on a limb and used sliced cheddar cheese instead of provolone. Sad, I guess by doing that I turned information technology into a Northward.J. cheesesteak! Thanks so much Wendy as you made my gang extremely happy!:)
08/28/2005
Succulent! My hubby is from Philadelphia and he liked it. Simple alterations, I made a paste of the listed herbs (minus powdered garlic or onion, I adopt existent) with a little olive oil and smeared minute steaks (steak'um blazon) while nonetheless frozen, and permit them unthaw during the 24-hour interval in the frig. Later sauteeing beef, onion, garlic and pepper, I lightly wiped the pan and toasted the inside of the rolls earlier adding the meat and veggies. Too substituted provolone. And then skillful, and with 2 packs of steak'ums had plenty for leftover lunches.
03/12/2006
This was really good. I followed a previous reviewer'south communication and bought pre-cut fajita meat, and it was a real timesaver. The only future change I would make is to stir some soy sauce or worc. sauce into the meat with the seasonings before stir-frying to give it a chip more flavor. I volition go far again with this modification.
10/28/2001
I am really picky about Philly Steak sandwiches. I idea this was really good. I was surprised with all of the different spices involved here, but none were overpowering and they all mingled together to provide a balmy, great flavour. i am really shut to giving this a 5.
06/11/2005
I liked this recipe. Who cares if it's "accurate" or not I say! I did tweak it a picayune to my family's taste and added mushrooms and a little garlic love apple sauce. I loved the spice mixture and overall it was a wonderful meal thought.
06/22/2010
The spices on the meat was VERY overpowering, you couldn't taste annihilation else on the sandwich unless y'all take one tiny piece of meat and pile information technology as high as possible with the onions & peppers. Nevermind tasting whatsoever cheese. The spice combination wasn't bad, merely just not nifty for a sandwich.
xi/03/2001
Very good recipe! I've made this three times already and my married man and I love them. They also heat up well the next solar day for dejeuner. They were a bit too spicy for my kids.
01/24/2003
i loved this. the only affair i did dissimilar was use 1/4 teaspoon of the seasonings and added 1/two teaspoon of cajun seasoning. i likewise bought 1lb of deli roast beef. i browned this as the receipie called for and shredded the meat. then did the rest of the receipie. mmm expert
01/10/2012
Fabricated it as is except marjoram (didn't accept whatsoever). It was so good! I snipped the meat really thin with kitchen scissors.
01/twenty/2003
Seeing equally I've never had a "truthful" Philly Steak sandwich, I thought these were awesome!! I thought maybe all the spices the recipe called for were excessive but they mixed together wonderfully. My husband and kids all thought this was nifty. I skippd the broiling part and just added the cheese (provolone, Not swiss) at the very end and stirred until melted. Yummy!
02/03/2012
Okay, tastes practiced But as a native Philadelphian, who also worked way through college in a Philluy cafeteria making the existent matter, must say NEVER light-green peppers, lyon,t understand why every place Not in Philly take this in the steak..ribeye sliced on a deli slicer, newspaper thin, chopped onion, salt, pepper, American or cheese whiz, and for me mushrooms..simply hot red peppers used..but it is a nice treat for fiends downward here in TX who desire the feel..good recipe..
03/19/2003
Wonderful. The first night I cooked these I shaved the frozen sirloin every bit thin as I could with a pocketknife. I too used provolone and added a piffling soy and worchestire sauce for a niggling wetness. These were incredible, but it wasn't until the 2d night when I chopped the meat upwards in a nutrient processor that my married man and I both proclaimed these tasted just like the ones from our local philly cheesesteak eating house.
04/05/2003
These were great. I sliced it as thin as I could and then let it marinate for the twenty-four hour period. Very good flavor. I as well used provolone and added worchestire and soy sauce. I've never had an 'authentic' philly sandwich but it volition be hard to beat out this one. I highly recommend trying this recipe.
05/17/2008
This is a wonderful recipe. I had my 'meat guy' slice two ribeyes as thin as he could. And I too used provolone instead of swiss. This is now in the regular rotation. cheers
02/05/2011
very expert. Icut the steak into one/iv inch strips and added mushrooms because they make everything improve in my stance.easy to make as well.
05/18/2013
This was great, the seasoning on the steak is perfect! Exist sure to cut against the grain, or it will be tough. I used red bong pepper instead of green, and did add a bear upon of mayo to mine every bit I can't alive without a condiment on my staff of life lol! Very proficient!
08/22/2001
Pretty good!!
02/22/2007
This recipe is simple and easy to follow, and the results are amazing. All i swapped was i used Cathedral cheese instead of Swiss, and hoagie rolls must be a The states matter equally i couldn't meet them in the supermarkets in Glasgow and so i only used baguettes. The results are sensational, especially equally a couple of my mates now think i'one thousand a dab manus in the kitchen.
08/11/2011
I made this today for dinner and information technology was great. I used 1 3/4 lb of flank steak, placed it in the freezer for a fleck to make it firm and sliced the beefiness very sparse. I mixed in the seasoning with the beef and placed in the the refrigerator for about an hour until I was ready to cook. It only takes a few minutes to cook considering the meat is then thin. I also made the devil's steak sauce that is on this site. Heated my hoagie buns and served topped with american cheese, the steak sauce and some arugula. Soooo yummy!! Everyone in the family loved it. BTW, I left out the onions and peppers b/c the kids don't like them.
05/31/2004
this was pretty good, but the next time i make information technology im going to employ less salty spices, it was very salty
10/22/2011
Didn't have any steak then I used basis beef! Still tasted fantastic.
06/03/2012
Tasty! Seasoning was very skillful and would make again, fifty-fifty using unlike meats. Very skillful with provolone and mushrooms. We also used garlic mayo as a spread (i/4 tsp garlic salt with 1/iv C. mayo), which really made it super!
07/21/2009
thiss recipe is good. i didn't utilize the veggies(exept onion). and i didn't use chili pulverization either. merely information technology was expert! will make again! thanks!
06/20/2004
Very practiced! I loved the spices on the meat (although I did non add thyme or marjoram.) I was a little disappointed in the texture of my beefiness, however I volition cook information technology longer adjacent time. It likewise dried out a niggling under the broiler. Other than that the flavor was great. Thanks for the recipe, it's been a long time since I've had a cheese steak :)
03/18/2008
This was super like shooting fish in a barrel and devoured by all. I cheated and used Steak-Umms this time, simply I can see using steak. The seasonings brand this for sure. We used good hoagie rolls and provolone cheese. Instead of onions and peppers, I used my leftover Guinness St. Patrick's Mean solar day mushroom and onion gravy and so topped information technology with the cheese and popped it under the broiler.
03/24/2009
These were good. To get the steak cut sparse, it helps to pop it in the freezer for a couple minutes earlier slicing.
08/15/2009
Then my boyfriend just proclaimed this was the best thing I've e'er made. This sandwich is actually good, I have never tasted a real philly sandwich so it does not thing to me the taste that it'due south supposed to exist. This is neat the manner it is. Merely I merely needed to add some of the suggestions that I read from all the reviews, to make sure it had optimum flavour. I used top circular beefiness. I didn't apply Hoagie rolls, because I remember information technology is a Usa product. And then I used our local sesame rolls. Had the meat defrosting, and left information technology slightly frozen so that it would be easier to slice. I didn't apply the exact amounts of the veggies. Added tinned mushrooms to the veggie mix. Tinned pineapple to the finished sandwich. I added 1/ii teaspoon reddish pepper flakes while it marinated, which was for over six hours, plus a chip more while cooking the beef. Also added white pepper while the beef cooked. I added 1 tablespoon of worcestershire sauce. I used some mayonnaise and 3 cloves of garlic on the bread. Just put the sandwiches in the oven in a 500 degree oven for three minutes to melt the cheddar cheese, which was grated and just a fleck.
11/02/2011
I call up it's a great recipe. I did follow some reviews..it turned out awesome. Thank u for sharing (:
06/20/2009
Delicious! My married man has been a Philly fan since he lived in PA as a child. This is so close to authentic!
02/11/2012
This is a swell recipe! I subbed mushrooms for the onion (non a fan) but every thing else correct by the recipe....very good.
08/15/2009
And so my young man just proclaimed this was the best thing I've ever made. This sandwich is really good, I have never tasted a real philly sandwich then it does not matter to me the gustatory modality that it's supposed to be. This is great the way it is. Merely I but needed to add some of the suggestions that I read from all the reviews, to make certain it had optimum flavor. I used top circular beef. I didn't use Hoagie rolls, because I retrieve it is a Us product. Then I used our local sesame rolls. Had the meat defrosting, and left it slightly frozen so that it would exist easier to slice. I didn't utilize the exact amounts of the veggies. Added tinned mushrooms to the veggie mix. Tinned pineapple to the finished sandwich. I added 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes while information technology marinated, which was for over vi hours, plus a bit more than while cooking the beefiness. Also added white pepper while the beef cooked. I added ane tablespoon of worcestershire sauce. I used some mayonnaise and iii cloves of garlic on the breadstuff. Just put the sandwiches in the oven in a 500 degree oven for 3 minutes to melt the cheddar cheese, which was grated and just a bit.
12/03/2007
I wasn't expecting much for a homemade sandwich only this was deli quality. I used Steakum frozen steaks broken into strips and then sprinkled the seasoning over as they cooked. This turned out great for what I did with it, merely I imagine with the real steak every bit called for it could have 5 star potential. I volition set this again as it's the best cheesesteak sandwich I have made at home all the same. Cheers!!!
12/17/2002
Wendy, I idea this recipe was great! I didn't have all of the seasonings, and I used provolone cheese, and it was still awesome. My husband loved it...it's definately going in our favorites! Thank you...Kim
07/07/2005
This was exactly what I wanted to eat last night. I used acme round steak instead of sirloin and used one big loaf of French staff of life cutting into 2 big sandwiches instead. I didn't have any onion powder or marjoram, simply the spices were nevertheless perfect. I loved the mode the onions cooked up-- almost sweet. At that place was an backlog of the onion/pepper mixture, and so my xv month former happily ate the actress. Overall, this is a great sandwich and very easy.
08/31/2006
We make this recipe all the time, however we e'er used cubed craven instead. Nosotros cube the raw craven and cook it in the pan in some olive oil. We then add together the seasonings, onions and green pepper and cook it all together. We also employ garlic mayo (minced garlic and mayo) and bake the sandwich with swiss cheese. Great repast. My husband asks for this constantly and we have made this for several other people and they ever dear information technology.
03/18/2008
This was super easy and devoured by all. I cheated and used Steak-Umms this time, just I can run into using steak. The seasonings make this for sure. We used proficient hoagie rolls and provolone cheese. Instead of onions and peppers, I used my leftover Guinness St. Patrick's Day mushroom and onion gravy and and so topped information technology with the cheese and popped it nether the broiler.
12/02/2010
We idea this was fantastic. We're non from Philadelphia, and then we don't care if it's authentic or not - thus we bit into our sandwiches lacking prejudice virtually the seasonings and cheeses. The seasoning mixture, in particular, is what sets this sandwich apart from others, and I especially liked the thyme and marjoram. I don't go to use marjoram enough, but here's a recipe where it'due south a great add-on! We liked that this was much lower in fat & calories than our usual favorite, "Jeremy'southward Philly Steak and Cheese" from this site. I took some liberties with the type of pepper (used Anaheim) and the cheese (used light provolone) and was fully satisfied with the end product. Thanks for the recipe!
05/07/2008
cant become incorrect with this 1.... great samdwich - fast - piece of cake... I added some mushrooms and spiced them up a chip.
02/06/2012
DELISH!! Ok, maybe not authentic Philly Cheese Steaks, but we recollect they are MUCH ameliorate! We used american cheese, but otherwise stuck to the recipe. Will use once more.
02/07/2010
Could have used a little more zing merely still delicious!!!!!
01/26/2002
My Husband and son loved it the first night then much that they wanted it once again the adjacent dark. I loved it and information technology was so easy to brand.
06/29/2011
Made this recipe tonight and it was delicious. I added the oil to the spices, spread over my tri-tip steak and slid into a baggy over dark. Sauted my onions and peppers first and then seared/fried my steak in a hot skillet until near medium, allow residue and so cut into thin slices. And so much easier this style and you can command how you lot want your steak cooked. I used a shredded Italian blend of mozz, cheddar, provolone & asiago cheese. Talk about expert.
04/22/2008
This sandwich is so good and easy that my husband and I brand it for special occasions. It is and so flavorful! I've already gotten a philly steak sandwich at a eating place and was disappointed because it was bland compared to this. Restaurants should use this recipe.
03/26/2012
Very good and very easy. Followed the recipe exactly and the entire family loved it.
08/14/2012
I looked at this recipe and had a bad feeling about it and should have moved on. I have never seen a recipe like this without a tenderizer of some sort. I added all of the spices. I did 1/4 tsp. every bit a couple of reviewers mentioned information technology existence too much. I was tempted to add something acidic simply left it lone. The simply spice I left out was the chili pulverisation and subbed Italian seasoning for the basil and thyme. The trouble was that the meat was tough, dry out, and almost just had a encarmine taste. The texture, was just as I had anticipated. Since, I used so many herbs and spices already, I got the refrigerator condiments out to physician it up. I added chili sauce and a little soy and worchestershire. That definitely helped. I didn't bother with the cheese in the cease since it didn't at any betoken seem like steak sandwich meat to me. I am glad I could salvage it although I am not sure information technology will all get eaten which is rare in my house. To height, fifty-fifty if information technology tasted like a cheese steak sandwich, the meat was just way also thick for a sandwich of this blazon.
07/14/2002
I but Dear these sandwhiches. They are such a great alternative to making a big meal, and infact, my family enjoys these more!
03/14/2008
Fantastically delicious! I volition make this again, many times I'm sure. I doubled everything, as I had five friends, and had enough for six servings, not eight. Overall, very skillful. Next time I wanna endeavour provolone cheese though, as that sounds good. :)

We were impressed with this recipe! I subbed provolone considering we prefer information technology to swiss, just any cheese would be good. We added zesty italian dressing, which was the perfect finishing touch.

Used this as a footing, I had to exist a trivial creative equally I didn't take everything on the list handy.. Took 2 t-os steaks and cut them into slices, stuck it in a sealed container with soy sauce and minced garlic for a couple hours in the fridge. Sauteed mushrooms and light-green pepper in butter and soy sauce besides. melted some mozzy cheese on iii hoagie buns, cooked up the steak with onion flakes, crammed it together and poured more mozeralla cheese on information technology. Wrapped the unabridged sandwhich in foil and cooked ii min. each side... nuking the bread start helped keep information technology moist. Husband said it was "out of the ballpark, over the leftfield wall, into the parking lot and a blast into a windshield, cook information technology again anytime." He ate two of the sandwiches right off the bat and saved the other for lunch tomorrow. :)

This was my first fourth dimension cooking Philly steak. Followed recipe exactly, simply omitted thyme and marjoram considering I didn't have any on hand. I also omitted cooked onion and bell pepper. Nosotros served on toasted white breadstuff with melted American cheese slices since we had no hoagie bread or swiss cheese. Turned out peachy!

This recipe was a HUGE hit with my husband and our 2 roommates. They've asked me every calendar week to make it again. The seasoning for the meat is succulent. I used red peppers instead of green peppers because I prefer the sweet of them, and I besides put a mayo/garlic mix on the staff of life. YUMM
